Teclast P20HD Hands On Look

Teclast P20HD Android 10 Tablet: When looking at other tablet choices at the same price point in the UK, other than a few [ one here ], there really isn't much that stands out all that much. But this one is pretty good for the money. Check out the video review by Geeky Stuff below

Here is a review by Robin Wong on the tablet I wrote about in a previous post, the Teclast P20HD. This is a fairly extensive hands on look at this device. I trust Robin Wongs opinion, he puts out some great content over at his blog. https://robinwong.blogspot.com. He rates the tablet highly. You can read his review rather than watch the video here: https://robinwong.blogspot.com/2020/08/best-budget-10-inch-android-tablet.html

Teclast P20HD Android 10 Tablet

When looking at other tablet choices at the same price point in the UK, other than a few [one here], there really isn't much that stands out. They all have some bad reviews, as well as many good reviews, but it is hard to find a tablet with a high consistency for remaining reliable when its been used daily over the course of a few years. Saying that, even within just one year of owning a budget tablet, for many models the cracks have already started to surface.

Choices are limited, and that's why the Teclast P20HD is such an attractive package. It's quite new on the scene. As a result it looks the most up-to-date, sleek, and has the most recent upgrades possible for such a low price. The spec is really high, and the performance is better than average. Considering the high specification and build quality, this model offers excellent value for money.

Teclast P20HD Fast Spec

  • 10.1" HD display [1900 by 1200 IPS]
  • Android 10 with no bloatware
  • 1.6 GHz Octa Core Processor [8 cores]
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB storage
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • SIM Card ready [4G] [Phablet]
  • SD card slot [max 512GB]
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Twin speakers
  • Mic
  • Headphone port
  • Metal back finish

With a high spec and such a cheap price some corners do have to be cut. So where are they in this model. Well, the battery life is average at best. However, I have read of a few purchasers complaining about abismal battery drain. So perhaps some batteries are either faulty or just very bad quality and don't last very long.

Dual cameras are a little grainy by today's standards. But at this price point that is to be expected. Does anyone take pictures with their tablet anyway. For applications like Zoom or Skype the camera quality is good enough to do the job.

Speakers are a subject open to debate. The big majority of users thing they are okay, but some complain about how "tinny" and cheap they sound. Welcome to the world of cheap tablets, where many of them sound like Smartphones playing music out loud. It's nothing new or exclusive to the Teclast P20HD.

Other than some sporadic problems with the touchscreen and some incompatible Apps, the issues with this model are pretty much the standard widely seen in tablets within this price range and beyond.

I should add, most reviews are positive for the P20HD, so don't let this list of problems put you off. I'm just being extra by scanning the 1 and 2 star reviews. Most reviewers do give it a full 5 stars, so buyers are pleased with the tablet overall for the price they paid. Definitely within the top 5 best tablets for the price. Android 11 OS would have been nice but Android 10 is more than good enough.

BOBLOV WN9 1296p Bodycam

Sometimes, or a lot of the time when you hear of those brand names that no ones heard of before the products are usually trash. But with BOBLOV, they do actually have some pretty good products in their range. In particular, their bodycams. The BOBLOV WN9 is one of them. It's hard to find it for sale on the major outlets online, but its still a really good bodycam for the price.

Some professional photographers that I follow on YouTube, who are basically experts when it comes to cameras / video footage actually recommend the BOBLOV WN9 over some GoPro models due to the better battery duration available with the BOBLOV WN9. The only downfall of this model is that it doesn't have any stabilization features.

Boblov KJ21 1296p Review

The reviews for the KJ21 are very positive. If you can't find the WN9, the newer model, the KJ21, is a great alternative. While it also does not have stabilization, there are many features that sort of make up for that. Some of those include: Infrared, Night Vision, 1080p HD recording, SD card slot which can hold up to 128GB, long standby and approximately 10 Hours of recording time @ 1080P.

The Boblov KJ21  is also widely reported as having good audio recording quality and a nice wide angle lens for broad view video capture. Great for police, doormen, photography auditing, security work, ghost hunting / paranormal / UFOs, personal security, dog walking etc.

Portable body cams are becoming more common these days, and with the state that the world is in, where crimes of all types are on the rise, not just in the UK but pretty much everywhere, I can see why the demand for these items is at an all time high.

Ricoh Caplio RX Digital Camera

Found this Ricoh Caplio RX Digital Camera for sale in a second hand shop [thrift store in the US] for £1, so I thought I'd buy it for a laugh and see what its like. Came practically brand new in the box with all accessories. It's very old and very "plasticy" for a digital camera, only packing 3.2 mega pixels [CCD sensor] and an optical 3.6x wide zoom.

But its not that old that it doesn't take a normal SD card, which is good. I've put a 1GB SD card inside and it works well, no errors. Takes two AA battery's, which last a long time, and has a small but useful set of modes and settings. Some of those include Macro [good], Landscape, Portrait, Text [whiter than white - see below] and Sport Mode [pretty good].

Ricoh state that the Caplio RX can also use a Li-ion battery, so it seems like it has an old school dual battery option. If they haven't already, big camera brands should bring this feature back into today's up-to-date cameras.

It can even record video footage. But the highest quality is 320. Not even 360p. This camera was released when video capability on cameras was in its infancy. Shows you just how old this digital camera is.

But sometimes less is more, and older technology now feels a bit more of a novetly. Having to make use of what you have got rather than having everything in a camera is more pleasing to me.

Text Mode is super white and bold

But that only goes as far as the image quality and having limited settings and features. Video footage is a different matter altogether. I'd rather not use the video in camera like this at all, that's how bad it is by today's standards.

I was however a bit disappointed to discover that this camera does not have any colour adjust settings like sepia, vivid, and my favourite, black and white. It's just in constant normal mode. But that's still alright, I can't expect everything for a pound.

The zoom isn't very good. Once the zoom is applied, at any length, the quality takes a nose dive. Picture quality isn't the best anyway so as you can imagine, it's pretty terrible with zoom. Without zoom the quality is much better, but just about acceptable [at least to me] in today's world of super sharp, detailed images that have been edited / enhanced beyond belief.

That is, if they're not blurred like a lot of them are. If images taken with the Ricoh Caplio RX are kept small, and the camera is in focus / has good stability etc, they are not too bad.

Overall, if you're into older digital cameras and can find a Caplio RX for sale @ £1 - £5, it's worth buying to mess around with. But if I had to pick an older camera and I only had say £10 to spend, it would not be spent on a Caplio RX. There are much better options out there.

Two that stand out for me are the older Panasonic Lumix models, like the TZ1 and TZ3, and some of the old Canon IXUS models. Both the Lumix and IXUS models are still capable of taking some really impressive pictures considering how old they now are.

Although I will say, the Caplio RX is definitely better than both the Lumix TZ1 and TZ3 when taking pictures indoors. And I know this first hand as I own both models.
